Job description
Tiegerman Community Services (TCS) provides services to adults with developmental disabilities in Queens, Suffolk, and Nassau Counties and is approved by the New York State Office for People with Disabilities (OPWDD). TCS is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Adult Services Day Hab Program located in:
- Richmond Hill, NY (Queens)
Schedule:
- Days: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 7 AM to 3 PM
Rate: $18.50 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Assist/monitor/teach individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygiene
- Meet with individuals (as needed) on an individual basis to discuss concerns, problems
- Supervise individuals in on and off-site activities
- Handle emergent situations appropriately
- Utilize crisis interventions when necessary
- Complete required documentation
- Provide first-aid assistance to all individuals and assist in the follow through on medical needs for individuals
- Assure individuals follow routines
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Asst. Manager, and Administration
- Report suspected abuse & neglect to supervisor immediately (within one hour)
- Transport individuals to and from community outings
Requirements:
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required
- Minimum Education of High School Diploma/GED required
- Experience with Special Needs Population preferred
Job Type: Full-Time or Per-Diem
