We are seeking a detail oriented Junior Accountant to join our team to support the day to day operations in the Business Office. One who is organized and keeps the organization's accounting and financial processes up to standard, ensuring accurate financial reporting and control. The Junior Accountant is responsible for recording and maintaining Tiegerman's financial records. The Junior Accountant reports directly to the Head Accountant, Business Manager, and Chief Financial Officer. The Junior Accountant is an exempt position.
Schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting aspects of General Accounting and Financial Reporting functions and financial areas, including GL, A/R, and A/P. Ensuring all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with GAAP, OPWDD, and NYSED regulations
Maintain general ledger accounts
Prepare necessary journal entries and adjustments
Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
Oversee and monitor AR and AP areas of the business office, including review of aging schedules
Review of AR and AP ledger entries
Maintain fixed asset and prepaid expense schedules
Assist in the preparation of the Consolidated Fiscal Report (NYSED and OPWDD Reporting)
Assist in the preparation of financial statement audits
Perform duties assigned by the Head Accountant, Business Manager, and Chief Financial Officer
Support Business Office team members
Prepare budgets
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
3 or more years of proven experience as junior staff or other similar position
Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Excellent understanding of accounting and financial processes
Exhibits strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology
Has excellent critical thinking as well as mathematical skills
The high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Demonstrates good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Well-organized with the ability to prioritize
