An innovative, mission-driven technology company is seeking a Manager of Engineering to lead a high-performing, remote-first team of engineers while working hybrid (2 days / week in-office) near Tucker, GA .
This role requires a strong technical leader with hands-on experience in Linux environments , as the company’s infrastructure and development processes are deeply rooted in Linux-based systems. You’ll be instrumental in shaping technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and driving the execution of high-impact software solutions.
Base Salary : $140,000 - $150,000 up to 10% annual bonus
Hybrid Role – In-office Mondays & Thursdays (Tucker, GA)
Linux-Based Development Environment – Strong Linux Experience Required
What You’ll Do
Lead & Mentor – Manage and develop a distributed team of 7 software and test engineers in an Agile environment.
Drive Engineering Excellence – Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle , ensuring scalable, high-performance solutions.
Champion Linux Development – Ensure best practices and optimizations within a Linux-based infrastructure .
Collaborate Cross-Functionally – Work closely with product management & architecture teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.
Establish Technical Standards – Maintain best practices, coding standards, and architectural integrity .
Hands-On Technical Leadership – While primarily a leadership role, you’ll contribute to the codebase when needed to support your team.
Optimize Agile Processes – Oversee Agile ceremonies and promote efficient cross-team collaboration.
What You Bring
7 years of experience as a software engineer with a strong technical background.
2 years of direct management experience leading software engineers in an Agile environment.
Strong hands-on experience in a Linux environment (critical requirement).
Expertise in Agile / Scrum methodologies with a proven ability to deliver high-quality software.
Excellent communication & leadership skills – Ability to mentor teams and convey technical concepts effectively.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading distributed or nearshore teams .
Hands-on expertise with TypeScript, PHP, and cloud-based architectures .
Familiarity with Node.js, React, MySQL / Postgres, Kafka, GraphQL, Vue.js .
Master’s degree in Computer Science (preferred but not required).
Agile or Scrum certification (a plus).
