Company Description: TPS is a state-of-the-art design build manufacturer of electrical equipment enclosures, switchboards/switchgear, industrial control panels and panelboards. We have the expertise and experience to build medium and low voltage switchgear and integrate them with state-of-the-art controls.
Job Summary: The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for the fabrication and assembly of parts required to build dead-front switchgear, panelboards and electrical equipment.
Job Responsibilities/Duties: Mechanical Assembly Technician
· Mechanical assembly of electrical enclosures
· Fabrication of brackets and supports from fiberglass, metal and plastic.
· Fabricate copper bus bar
· Assemble sheet metal “cabinets” to house bus system and other components
· Assemble the bus system of switchboards and install in cabinet
· Install other components
· Participate in job site visits to complete or to resolve issues.
· Perform in process quality checks of self-work and the work of others
· Maintain clean and orderly workstation evolving with the TPS 5S System
· Follow the safety standards of TPS, local, state, and federal regulations
· Organize work to meet production schedules
· Dimension and layout of back panels and enclosures
· Work with engineering to improve designs
· Participate in continuous improvement activities as required
· Other duties and tasks as assigned by TPS Management
Work Environmental & Physical Demand:
· May stand for long periods of time with very little sit-down time.
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively
· Frequent twisting and bending
· Work in various environmental conditions such as:
- Tight or enclosed spaces
- Moderate heights
- Varying temperatures
- Inside or outside to complete work assignments.
- Exposure to dust and dirt.
· Follow safety standards in working with multiple services, tools and equipment.
Minimum Requirements/Experience:
· Read, write and speak English preferred
· Novice to Intermediate ability with common hand tools including but not limited to the following:
- Cordless drill for driving screws
- Wrenches and sockets
- Screwdrivers
- Hand drills
- Table saw
· Prefer 1 year of experience on commercial or industrial electrical projects
· Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate good listening skills
· Intermediate ability to read a tape measure
· Intermediate ability to read mechanical engineering drawings
· Pass a drug screen and background check for employment
Required Education:
· High School diploma or equivalent
