Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning:
- Design and plan network infrastructure with scalability and future growth in mind.
- Prioritize security within the network architecture, aligning with industry standards to mitigate emerging threats.
- Create, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for efficient network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
- Define and track service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure consistent and reliable network performance for end users.
- Continuously track network performance to detect and resolve issues, ensuring seamless network functionality.
- Act as the go-to expert for specific network systems, providing insights and support.
- Help with the setup, configuration, and upkeep of network systems, software, and related infrastructure.
- Assist senior team members with more complex tasks as needed.
- Work alongside product teams to ensure correct network access and integration for applications.
- Follow and uphold network security protocols and guidelines.
- Handle and follow up on network-related helpdesk tickets to ensure swift resolution.
- Keep a detailed inventory of all physical network assets for accurate tracking.
- Develop and maintain maintenance plans to ensure network security, integrity, and availability.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders to minimize disruptions to business operations during network downtimes.
- Maintain diagrams, configuration templates, procedure manuals, asset inventories, and other relevant documentation for company networks.
- Support other Network Engineers in the installation and operation of network infrastructure, ensuring that all devices run the latest firmware and software versions.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for network products and services.
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute solutions related to new network projects, upgrades, replacements, or enhancements.
- Travel onsite to manage the deployment and maintenance of new/upgraded cabling, infrastructure, and equipment.
- Oversee and assist third-party contractors both onsite and remotely during large-scale development projects.
Education & Certification:
- Associate’s degree in Networking, Computer Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network are preferred and considered advantageous for this position.
- 5 years of experience in maintaining and installing network systems at Enterprise, large-scale organizations.
- Expertise in modern network protocols, technologies, hardware, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and endpoint security.
- Proficient in using network diagnostic and monitoring tools.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki, Firewall Threat Defense, Citrix NetScaler, cloud networking, and SD-WAN.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, including design and management.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Up to 50% planned, overnight travel to other company site locations within the U.S., which could include weekends and holidays.
