Job Title: Installation Technician

Job Overview:
As an Installation Technician, you will be entrusted with delivering top-tier solutions to our customers. Your role will involve ensuring that all site protocols and health and safety standards are followed, while meeting the increasing demand for our products and services. You will be responsible for coordinating installations, addressing service calls, and ensuring a positive customer experience. By leveraging your expertise in our products, you will ensure that every task is completed correctly the first time. Key qualities for this position include dependability, a positive attitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn and grow. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, capable of multitasking, and eager to learn new technologies.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the possibility of after-hours work based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide installation and repair services to business customers.
- Support NOC engineers remotely during service activations and troubleshooting.
- Install, terminate, test, and repair Category 3, 5, and 5E premise wiring in compliance with TIA-568B standards. This includes RJ45 connectors, and wall jacks, 66/110 punch down blocks.
- Install and maintain premise hardware, including plywood back boards, conduit, structured cabling, patch panels, UPS, PDU, relay racks, data cabinets, and NEMA boxes.
- Install network hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, IP phones, Analog Telephone Adapters, media converters, wireless access points, microwave radios, and dishes.
- Climb and work on towers to install or replace equipment.
- Learn and utilize company software, hardware, and related systems.
- Perform tower climbs up to 300 feet while carrying up to 70 lbs.
- Contribute to our 24/7 support team by participating in rotating on-call shifts.
Qualifications:
- ComTrain (or equivalent) certification in tower climbing, or willingness to complete ComTrain certification upon hire.
- Ability to distinguish between colors in cables.
- Proficient in testing equipment such as power meters, cable toners, and laptops.
- Strong computer, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare clear and accurate records.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage shifting priorities.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, including responding to standby or callouts within 60 minutes.
- Capability to work in confined or elevated spaces and the physical ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs consistently.
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license, with the ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED, with 1-2 years of experience in the data/communications industry.
