Job Description:
A Construction Materials Testing Field Technician is responsible for conducting field investigations, performing testing in the field such as modified proctors and density tests, and providing data analysis to support the design and construction of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, and other structures.
We are seeking a Construction Materials Testing Field Technician to perform testing of soil, concrete, asphalt and a variety of other materials on various construction projects in the Tampa Bay area.
As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for in-the-field testing of concrete, soils and other construction materials. You will use a company provided vehicle to travel to job sites in the area to perform routine field testing including but not limited to compaction testing, sampling and observations of soils, stone and asphalt, utilizing nuclear density gauges and drive tube methods. You will also perform concrete, grout and masonry quality control tests through sampling and visual observation, document and report your findings.
Responsibilities:
- Performs routine field and/or laboratory tests.
- Responsible for the field compaction testing, sampling and observation of soils, aggregate and asphalt utilizing nuclear density gauges.
- Performs concrete, grout, and masonry quality control tests through sampling and visual observation, performing slump, air, unit weight and temperature tests as well as cast specimens for compressive and flexural strength specimens.
- Sampling of asphalt cores to verify thickness, density.
- Daily communication with site contractors, agency representatives, other technicians and project managers.
- Complete accurate and detailed field testing reports and/or diagrams. Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2 years of construction materials testing and /or Inspection experience a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Clean Florida driving record.
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work weekends and extended hours as needed.
- CTQP Certifications.
- Nuclear Density Certified.
- ACI Field Technician Grade I.
Physical Requirements of this position include:
The position requires the employee to work in potentially dangerous surroundings, sometimes in inclement weather conditions including rain.
They must have the ability to lift to 50 pounds, walk and stand for extended periods of time.
This position may require the regular operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
