GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Website Manager oversees, along with the university marketing agency of record, the University's website's day-to-day maintenance and administration. They perform a range of IT, marketing, and website development tasks to ensure that the University has a functional website that represents them well and that users can navigate easily. They often respond to security issues and troubleshoot and resolve various website performance issues. Website managers ensure the website has accurate and current domain and hosting information to prevent potential downtime.
The website manager manages all aspects of the University’s website, including blog posts, guest articles, images, reviews, videos, and web pages. The manager also assists with creating new content, auditing existing content to identify areas for improvement, and optimizing search engine (SEO) efforts to promote the website's presence and increase web traffic.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for a website manager can help evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of website management, user engagement, and overall performance.
Traffic and Engagement Metrics:
- Website Traffic: Total number of visitors (unique and returning) over a specific period.
- Page Views: The average number of pages viewed per session indicates user engagement.
- Bounce Rate: Percentage of visitors who leave the site after viewing only one page, reflecting content relevance and user experience.
- Average Session Duration: The average time users spend on the site indicates engagement levels.
Conversion Metrics:

Requirements
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist and collaborate in implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading the University's websites.
- Responding to and troubleshooting all website issues.
- Identifying and responding to all website security breaches.
- Ensuring that the website is protected by enabling the appropriate security measures.
- Updating HTML, CSS, and JavaScript regularly.
- Conducting content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
- Creating appropriate website content aligned with the organization’s strategy.
- Ensuring website quality and efficiency by conducting regular testing plans.
- Improving the user experience of the website regularly.
- Collaborating with all faculty, staff, and management to ensure the website content is accurate, aligns with brand strategy, and meets the organization’s standards.
- Ensuring full compliance of the website with all laws and regulations.
- Keeping up-to-date with industry best practices.
- Monitoring and reporting on competitor websites.
- Recommend strategies to improve website traffic.
- Develop and collaborate website content to support organizational goals and strategies.
- Keeping the website's domain and hosting registration current.
- Producing sitemaps that represent and visualize the website's structure and functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, digital media, web design, or a closely related area is preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of two years experience in website development and content management is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of website development platforms and metrics.
- Strong project management and inter-departmental coordination skills.
- Must be flexible and available to work weekends and nights.
