Job Summary
The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for managing quality, design, continuous improvement, and safety. This role will lead a team to ensure our products and services meet the required quality standards set forth by our clients or our internal requirements. Identify areas for continuous improvement, improve quality control processes, and ensure our company is focused on safety.
General Duties, and Responsibilities
- Perform inspections and audits across all stages of production, receiving, warehousing, and shipping. Conduct product and process audits and inspections.
- Manage team to ensure we are meeting all client required quality documentation and PPAP requirements to ensure timelines are met.
- Develop work instructions including packaging requirements for new kits and assemblies.
- Oversee the team to collaborate with customers on new projects and improvements to existing products.
- Manage the defect log, including notifying assignees, categorizing defects, and updating the analysis section weekly to drive to for quick resolution of issues.
- Direct the team in managing the facility's non-conforming area, ensuring parts are accurately "red-tagged," recorded in the warehouse system, and logged in the defect register. Drive initiatives to minimize non-conformances and achieve zero-defect objectives.
- Manage customer communication as it pertains to general quality concerns, warranty claims, non-conforming product and quality system performance.
- Maintain required quality certifications (example, ISO 9001) as it relates to compliance documentation and internal and external audits.
- Lead monthly inspections by clients in Food Grade Warehouse.
- Serve as the subject matter expert related to the TIG Quality Manual and related downstream processes.
- Drive continuous improvement processes within the quality, shipping, and kitting areas. Drive to meet assigned KPI’s.
- Actively participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement projects.
- Develop and document quality standards, including developing production work instructions.
- Assist with packaging specifications per product requirements.
- Support product testing and validation for customers.
- Communicate quality and compliance concerns with urgency.
- Update all metrics and reports and drive to meet KPI’s.
- Lead Safety Council and drive team to develop safety protocols and ensure all areas of the company adhere. Manage monthly safety brief program, and all tracking and reporting of safety metrics.
