Position Summary
The Director of Operations leads all activities related to Tiger Fuel operations including a team of office personnel, delivery drivers, and service technicians to ensure performance metrics are achieved in a safe, productive, and cost-efficient manner. This role is responsible for directing all business operations for our Charlottesville location.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve efficiency of deliveries, installations and day-to-day office activities
- Set prices for fuel as well as oversee the service department's installation pricing
- Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational and maintenance problems to ensure quality service and prevent delays
- Perform timely administrative activities associated with the effective management of plant operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving data for reports
- Supervise team of Operations Managers for Service, Delivery, and Customer Service departments, including performing annual reviews and managing performance.
- Oversee office operations and procedures such as bookkeeping, preparation of payroll, filing systems, request of supplies, and other clerical services
- Manage employee workloads to minimize redundancy and maximize productivity
- Train and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with Tiger Fuel Company’s procedures and regulations
- Promote the “Tiger Way” and our cycle of success by building high quality relationships with employees, customers and outside vendors
- Maximize office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications
- Oversee the overall repair and maintenance of plant and equipment, develop office budget, and implement cost control programs as needed
- Encourage and motivate employees to meet performance standards, inspiring respect, trust, and provide appropriate recognition to peers and subordinates
- Include team in planning, decision-making, and process improvement; make self available to employees and provide regular performance feedback
- Observe and coach safety and security procedures and lead monthly safety meetings for drivers and technicians
Qualifications and Experience
- At least four years experience in managing a similar industry/business
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with efficiency
- Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Superior relationship building skills and experienced management background with motivation and self-direction
- Passionate about energy and providing best-in-class customer service support
- Able to learn new technologies, quickly becoming the expert of a rapidly evolving set of technology needs
- Proven ability to provide troubleshooting and assistance as needed
- Patient, professional, and adaptable to a wide range of people and backgrounds
- Experience in the petroleum or propane industry preferred
