FUNCTION/POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Performs a combination of the following tasks: receive, ship and/or store component parts and materials for manufacturing operations. Uses production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. Reviews and analyzes material documents for discrepancies and shortages in materials. Coordinates with various departments to resolve problems. May prioritize work orders and packing of wholegoods and replacement parts. May also coordinate with purchasing and/or supervisors to expedite requests for parts. Maintains accuracy of inventory. Assists in training of new employees. May be assigned to one particular work center or various work centers. Participates in daily cycle count.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assembles orders, fills requisitions, work orders, etc., and moves and/or distributes materials to shipping dept., trucks, or production.

  • Determines availability, quality, and correctness of stock for manufactured or purchased parts and notifies production planners of shortages.

  • Modifies existing parts to complete orders using Engineering prints and specs.

  • Performs material receiving functions. Identifies, records, labels and places materials into stock. Follows-up with appropriate paperwork including purchase orders and RMA’s. Works with purchasing to reconcile differences in orders vs. actual.

  • Ships wholegoods/parts to destination and/or moves within production area. Packages and labels materials. May operate shipping company software systems.

  • Performs daily counts for cycle count.

  • Required to operate forklift.

  • Accurately records workorder information and inventory transactions.

  • Uses computer to access information or verify data.

  • May load and transport materials using company vehicle. May pickup and deliver parts/supplies from local vendors.

  • May load flatbed and step deck trailers for shipping.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Pass Drug Test and Physical

  • One to three years of previous material handling experience preferred but not required.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Ability to operate a forklift and hoist safely.

  • Basic math skills and computer data entry skills.

  • Ability to lift, push or pull 50 pounds alone and 100 pounds with assistance.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Daily stooping or reaching to pack, ship, or receive parts and reaching parts during cycle counting.

  • Able to work overtime to meet production deadlines, able to work under pressure, organize and prioritize own workload and schedule workload of others.

  • Good driving record required.
