Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
- Lead and guide the ongoing design, execution, and continuous improvement of control monitoring of all risk types within the Finance/HR business units to ensure accuracy, consistency and aggregation.
- Serve as the subject matter expert to Finance/HR business units for operational or regulatory compliance control implementation, issue management, risk mitigation and effective design of controls.
- Analyze and validate remediation plans supporting the issue management program and advise on practical solutions and enhancements to Business Unit controls, policy, procedure, and related documentation.
- Conduct key control assessments on a regular basis (adhering to Enterprise deliverables) to evaluate Business Unit adherence to corporate standards related to internal controls.
- Ensure effective and appropriate testing, validation, and documentation of review activities for risk/issue programs and controls.
- Interpret aggregated testing and monitoring results and identify trends and gaps related to key controls across business units.
- Report results and findings of issue validation to business unit and risk management partners to ensure adherence to program standards and support issue closure.
- Evaluate and test control environment effectiveness related to change management initiatives.
- Work with and oversee the preparation of regular analysis and reporting of control monitoring and testing results.
- Address material issues with senior management, including technical discussion of root cause and evaluation of corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with Business Unit and Risk Management partners as necessary to execute on key operational risk initiatives and assessments.
Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and related training.
- Four years of experience in a financial institution with emphasis on risk management, audit, operations, process engineering or line of business specialty and/or equivalent education, training and experience.
- Solid knowledge of risk management principles and controls, broad-based business practices, and understanding of business process and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to lead quality assurance and process improvement efforts in a corporate environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to lead and manage projects independently as well as in a team setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills which allow effective working relationships with various levels within the organization.
- Conceptual ability to analyze problems and devise solutions, including quantitative analysis and research skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to operate without close supervision.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
- Detail oriented and able to work independently and comfortably in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities with (often) a high degree of change
- Ability to assess levels of adherence/execution and identify risk/control improvement opportunities in risk management principles/controls, broad based business practices, and business unit activities/processes (within Finance/Legal/HR) helpful
- Skilled at building strong partnerships with business unit(s) and the ability to communicate processes to ensure building of consistent Risk Management and mitigation routines and compliance
- Self-starter with a strong analytical mindset and effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to distill complex data and information into key verbal and written communications.
- Comfortable working with people at all organizational levels.
