The Manager, Music Publishing Licensing and Partnerships will facilitate the development and licensing of new music-related products and features across TikTok's suite of AI-powered mobile apps including TikTok & Resso.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate music content licenses with music publishers and PROs/CMOs across North America and beyond
- Develop & maintain quality working relationships with music publishing rightsholders and contribute to ongoing partner management strategy
- Align cross functional strategies across Music Publishing Business Development, Product, Legal and other teams to enable and support new music-related product development
- Represent Music Publishing Licensing and Partnerships BD team in internal and external discussions related to product development and licensing roadmap
- Understand product goals and anticipate music licensing and copyright-related requirements
- Demonstrable experience creating and negotiating licensing structures, preferably for music streaming services and/ or user generated content platforms
- 5-7 years' experience in music or related digital content industry, with an emphasis on music publishing licensing for digital services, including experience in copyright, licensing, business development, product development or business analysis
- Sophisticated understanding of and experience with international music publishing licensing and rights structures
- Deep knowledge and extensive passion for the music/tech space
- Familiarity with complex IP considerations around UGC. DMCA and/or Article 17 expertise a plus
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint and presentation design skills including analytics and financial modelling skills a plus
- Proactive team player and effective influencer
- Degree plus MBA or equivalent business qualification strongly preferred, or relevant industry experience
