We are seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our Live CDN team at TikTok. As a Backend Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our Live CDN platform, which powers live streaming services for millions of users worldwide. You will also be responsible for designing and implementing the architecture for the platform, with a focus on automating and simplifying configuration functionality to improve reliability, usability, and flexibility.
Seeking an experienced Tech Lead to join our live streaming infrastructure team. In this role, you'll be crucial in optimizing live streaming transmission, utilizing your expertise in multimedia and live streaming technologies. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $187040 - $358000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).

Responsibilities:
- Enhance Live Streaming Gateway:Enhance the live streaming gateway to support various streaming protocols and ensure efficient audit capabilities. Address and resolve issues in the existing live streaming gateway, focusing on performance improvements and error resolution.
- Optimization of Core Live Streaming Metrics:Collaborate with diverse teams to refine key performance metrics, identifying and solving system issues to boost user experience.Lead the development and implementation of strategies for system optimization and performance enhancement.
- Test Infrastructure and Quality Assurance:Develop and oversee test pipelines, focusing on performance, integration, and unit testing to ensure system robustness and deployment readiness.Establish and maintain a testing environment parallel to production for effective debugging and pre-deployment feature testing.
- Operational Process Optimization and Quality Collaboration: Work closely with both internal teams and external partners to refine and enhance operational workflows, ensuring efficient process execution. Actively engage in identifying and resolving quality issues, and drive initiatives to increase transparency and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Be familiar with at least one programming language(c / C / Java / Python / go etc)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in system optimization.
- Experience with CDN, Multimedia, Live Streaming and WebRTC.
- Operational experience running a production 24x7 infrastructure at scale.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
