Job Title: Outpatient Mental Health Assistant
Job Summary:
The Outpatient Mental Health Assistant provides direct support to mental health professionals and assists in the delivery of care to clients in an outpatient setting. This role involves helping to facilitate treatment, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and performing administrative duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Support:
- Assist clients with scheduling appointments and follow-up visits.
- Help clients understand treatment plans and follow prescribed therapies.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients during sessions.
- Clinical Assistance:
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas for therapy sessions.
- Monitor clients' well-being and report any concerns to the supervising clinician.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Perform reception duties, including answering phones, greeting clients, and managing intake paperwork.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with billing and insurance verification processes.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Recognize signs of client distress and provide appropriate support or escalate to a licensed professional as necessary.
- Participate in crisis intervention protocols when needed.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to treatment planning discussions.
- Community Outreach:
- Assist in outreach efforts to educate the community about mental health services and resources.
- Support group therapy sessions or psychoeducational workshops as directed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require an associate's degree or higher in psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations and individuals with mental health challenges is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy and understanding of mental health issues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Certifications:

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
