What you will do:
The Quality Support Specialist performs auditing and trending of supporting documents and processes related to the Food Safety (HACCP) and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Conducts Food Safety & QMS related training. Assists the Quality Supervisor, Quality Manager, and quality department in other supportive duties.
Here’s a day in the life:
- Possess an understanding of the Food Safety requirements to implement and maintain HACCP based food safety plans relevant to the scope of certification.
- Reviews and then prepares technical reports &/or trending by establishing a frequency schedule of review, collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends of documentation.
- Review, develop and maintain the Management Corrective Action Registers (Databases).
- Ensure all training records on critical food safety and quality are completed.
- Conducts internal Food Safety trainings to include: Monthly employee trainings, employee Food Safety orientation (Onboarding), temporary/contract workers Food Safety training
- .Supports efforts in the building and improvements of QMS to include work related to document control (PM, ETQ/Reliance).
- Assists with regulator, 3rd party and internal audits and with Food Safety, Food Quality and SQF compliance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and members.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be computer literate with beginner knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint. Intermediate MS Office skills are preferred.
- Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
- Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to prioritize work. Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Must be able to work a varied schedule including week days, weekends, and holidays.
Skills you’ll need:
Education:
· High School Diploma or GED is required; An Associate degree in food science or a related field is preferred; Bachelor's degree in food or dairy science, or biology is a plus. Practical experience in a quality assurance position and/or microbiology-food testing laboratory is preferred.
