The Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Seasonal Deputy Sheriffs with a focus on marine and parks enforcement. As a Seasonal Deputy Sheriff , you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our waterways, parks, and recreational areas. You will be responsible for enforcing laws and regulations, providing assistance to boaters and park visitors, and conducting patrols to maintain public safety.
Additional Information:
This is a seasonal position that may be schedule for up to 40 hours per week for 180 days. Depending on assignment weekend and evening shifts may be required.
ABOUT THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE:
The Tillamook County Sheriff's duty is to maintain peace within the county, and as an elected official the Sheriff is accountable to the people of Tillamook County. Citizens living and visiting Tillamook County receive many services from your Sheriff's Office. In the unincorporated areas of Tillamook County deputies provide Law Enforcement and emergency response. But there is much more to the Sheriff’s Office than patrolling the rural parts of our county. Some of the major operations include our 54 dedicated employees running and maintaining the Jail, Search and Rescue on land and water, processing and delivery of civil papers, Community Corrections (Parole and Probation), Court House Security, major crime team response, and support of the municipal City Police Departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol waterways, parks, and recreational areas to prevent and deter criminal activity.
- Enforce boating regulations, including safety requirements and navigation laws.
- Provide assistance and support to boaters, swimmers, and park visitors as needed.
- Conduct investigations related to marine accidents, environmental violations, and other incidents.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and emergency services to coordinate responses to emergencies.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of enforcement activities and incidents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education in criminal justice or related field preferred.
- Completion of a certified law enforcement academy or equivalent training program.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Boating experience and knowledge of maritime laws and regulations preferred.
- Ability to swim and perform water rescues if necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
