What you will do:
Assist with cheese manufacturing and the cheese department cleaning processes. Perform HACCP monitoring duties for designated Critical Points (cream, milk, and vat pasteurization and metal detectors) as required per sub-job categories. Maintain proper records, cleaning in place (CIP), and sanitizing procedures. Monitor and/or record operations in NAV and Wonderware systems.
Here’s a day in life:
Cheese Towers
- Set up towers and sealers for production; operate towers and sealers throughout the production day and control blocks weights
- CIP and sanitizing procedures; tower vacuum pump hookups for production and CIP
Cheese Boxer
- Set up and operate boxer for production; ensure the boxer runs properly throughout the production day
- Ensure proper recipe, date and count is correct;
- Clean boxer, boxer room, and salt room
- Fill and monitor the salt bins; perform hourly boxer and leaker and salt checks
- Make milk silos changes when necessary
Cheese Cold Storage
- Operation of the block cooler and palletizer, and operation and verification of the metal detector
- Obtain proper sample blocks; use of ADC scan gun
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED is required. Previous food production or production/manufacturing experience desired.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word. Knowledge of ERP systems i.e. NAV is preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company. Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a food manufacturing plant environment.
- Must be able to be certified to operate a forklift.
- Must be able to stand full shift.
- Be physically able to regularly and frequently handle both 40-pound blocks of cheese and 40-pound bags of salt.
- Occasional lifting supplies, moving tools and lifting equipment
- Standing, raising and lowering up to 55# from waist to/from a height of 60"
