What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Coaching and Youth Development position at Tillie's Touch?
POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Director of Coaching will create and implement one 20-minute fun, organized training session per week for each team of 8-12 players and is responsible for preparing their team for one game per week. If you have prior coaching and/or playing experience, love to work with kids, and love soccer, we would love to have you in our organization! Due to various competitions, the average weekly hours are 15-30 on weekday evenings and weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create a positive and encouraging environment for all players.
- Design fun, skill-appropriate training sessions that players can relate to the game (see additional information section below on training offered).
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before training/games to set up to provide structure and organization to each training.
- Oversee and manage multiple players at one time.
- Frequent, consistent, and clear communication with players and parents.
- Provide positive guidance and instruction from the sidelines at all games and be willing to engage with players physically during drills/training.
- Provide general guidance on nutrition and healthy choices for all players.
- Manage and problem-solve individual needs and team conflict with professionalism.
- If the last person in the building is responsible for turning all electric units off and locking/securing the building,
- Responsible for overseeing and training other coaches.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of one year of soccer coaching experience
- Required playing experience at least up to the high school level - it’s essential to know the game from the player’s perspective
- A commitment to attend all shifts that include practices and games (we know there are other life requirements to attend to sometimes, and we require at least a 24-hour notice when there are schedule conflicts)
- Clear, direct, and practical communication skills and ability to adapt to individual player and team needs
- A good sense of humor and the ability to learn from mistakes.
- A willingness to embrace a very diverse environment and work with individuals of all backgrounds
- Ability to communicate in a language other than English is preferred.
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- All applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a clear background check, as you will be working with minors.
- Minimum of a high school diploma and/or GED.
- Knowledge and experience with Google Suites and Microsoft Office Suites.
- Ability to complete all required GotSport and SafeSport trainings.
COMPENSATION
- Successful applicants will be compensated hourly between $15.50-$20.50, depending on experience and qualifications.
