POSITION SUMMARY
TP Trucking & Logistics is looking for an energetic candidate to fill the position of Driver Trainer. The Driver Trainer is responsible for acclimating new drivers to the company’s culture and safe practices. This role highlights growth and development, hands-on training, and feedback to ensure drivers are prepared for a successful driving career.
MAJOR TASKS
- Conduct new hire orientation in classroom setting and provide hands-on training in essential driving skills like safe backing, defensive driving, and load securement.
- Teach drivers to use in-cab technology, follow compliance for DOT and State regulations, HOS , etc.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and respect for company policies and procedures.
- Mentor drivers in customer service, trip planning, operating in inclement weather, fueling, routing, and idle rate.
- Evaluate and document new hires’ progress weekly, offering constructive feedback and coaching.
- Communicate with dispatch, safety, operations, and drivers to promote professional driving standards.
- Work directly with the Recruiter Department to ensure best practices and driver retention.
Skill Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Two or more years of trucking industry experience.
- Must be experienced with flatbed trucking and securement.
- Maintains a current Class A CDL.
- Must have a strong knowledge of DOT requirements and regulations.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and email, and the ability to learn and use company specific software.
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with applicants, drivers, and other company employees.
