What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Teacher position at Timber Ridge School?
Timber Ridge School is a 12-month residential treatment center licensed and fully approved by the Virginia Dept. of Education for adolescent boys experiencing emotional difficulties and other disabilities. We are located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains NW of Winchester, VA. We maintain a tobacco and drug-free environment. Leary Educational Foundation is an equal opportunity employer.
$2,000 sign on bonus $1,000 to be paid out after successful completion of probationary period (appx. 60 days from hire date) and $1,000 paid out after six months of employment in good standing.
Teach high school students in the subject area of English . Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates a program of instruction to include the selection of instructional materials, classroom management, and progress evaluations. Advises residential staff with regard to individual student learning needs and methods or techniques to meet these needs as requested. Participates in the overall assessment of each student's needs, program, and progress with residential and clinical staff.
Bachelor’s degree required with certification, or eligibility for certification, as a teacher in Virginia and endorsement or eligibility for endorsement in secondary school English/Language Arts. Must be willing to pursue special education endorsement. Experience in teaching preferred. Additional compensation potential for second endorsement in either content area or Special Education when added. Primary hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Mon-Fri.
