What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Assistant position at Timber Ridge School?
Timber Ridge School is a year-round accredited school and licensed residential treatment center. Our campus is located about 20 miles north of Winchester, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Our employees transform the lives of emotionally and behaviorally challenged adolescent boys in grades 6-12, with a goal of reuniting them successfully with their families and community.
$2,000 sign on bonus $1,000 to be paid out after successful completion of probationary period (appx. 60 days from hire date) and $1,000 paid out after six months of employment in good standing.
Job Requirements: High school diploma; college preferred. Valid driver’s license. Experience working with and supervising children is required. Must be 21 or older.
Responsibilities:
· Promotes the welfare and safety of all students throughout the instructional day.
· Supports the behavioral and instructional needs of our school by providing reinforcement, guidance, and interventions to our “at risk” youth. Skill set in de-escalation and behavior management helpful.
· Intervene to assist students through individual behavioral/emotional situations
· Consistently provide students with a model of a competent adult, reflecting at all times behaviors being expected of students. This includes the areas of language, dress, emotional regulation and interpersonal relationships.
· Provides support to teachers in the instructional setting as assigned. This may include functioning as a substitute in the teacher’s absence.
· Maintains all records and data related to students in a confidential manner in accordance with established regulation.
· Support the residential program as assigned before and after school and during extended breaks and holidays.
