What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Cook position at Timber Ridge School?
Timber Ridge is a year-round residential treatment center licensed and fully accredited school. Our employees transform the lives of emotionally and behaviorally challenged adolescent boys between the ages of 10-21, with a goal of reuniting them successfully with their families and community.
Job Summary – Assist with prep work and cooking of nutritionally balanced meals for our year-round residential and therapeutic school to include breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Maintain equipment and tools ensuring sanitary work areas.
Qualifications – Some kitchen experience is desired; large quantity cooking is ideal. Must be able to lift trays and pots of food (25 lbs). Must be able to communicate with staff and students. Must be able to pass a background check. Ability to repetitively lift and carry heavy boxes and cookware filled with liquids and food. Must have Serve Safe Food Handler Certification or complete the certification within 30 days of the date of hire. Prefer a minimum of 2 years experience in quantity cooking in a school setting.
Location – Our majestic campus is located just 20 minutes northwest of Winchester on Rt. 522 north in Cross Junction, VA.
