Behavioral Health Associate (BHA) Essential Functions:
· Assist patients with their daily living activities and administer basic health care or treatments.
· Participate in therapeutic or recreational group activities with patient.
· Participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs.
· Help with personal hygiene.
· Assist patients in achieving and maintaining care goals.
· Deliver care based on the priority of needs and available resources to the specific service population of the facility.
· Provide medical or therapeutic care. Direct and indirect diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patients.
· Help with admitting and discharging patients.
· Monitor physical and emotional well-being of patient and report unusual behavior or physical ailments to appropriate staff. Prepare and maintain records of progress and services performed.
· Encourage patient to participate in social, recreational, or other therapeutic activities that enhance interpersonal skills or develop social relationships.
· Teach strategies to promote client wellness and independence.
· Lead or co-lead individual or group sessions as part of specific recreational or therapeutic procedures.
· Prepare treatment or recreation areas, such as setting up therapy equipment, transport patients/help them move to or from a therapy area. Clean activity or treatment areas and equipment.
· May include driving of facility motor vehicle or coordinating transportation with an appropriate staff member.
· Comply with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives and maintain organizational and industry policies regarding confidentiality.
Education/Licensure/Experience/Skill Requirements:
· Associates degree in human service field
· CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
· First aid may be required based on state or facility.
