What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Technician 3 position at Time Rental?
We are looking for a hardworking, energetic, and experienced (3-5 years of equipment technician experience required) mechanic, the main responsibilities will be to maintain our rental machinery. This position will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines. This position requires attention to detail and the willingness to work in a fast-paced work environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all rental equipment.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of rental equipment while displaying great customer service.
- Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems.
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components.
- Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery.
- Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.)
- Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and gas engine schematics.
- Ability to inspect, diagnose, and repair a down piece of equipment with no supervision.
- Interprets technical manuals relating to manufacturer specs and warranty requirements.
- Keeps records of work, hours, parts, etc.
- Ability to communicate with Lead Tech and Manager of any underlying mechanical issues with equipment.
- Accurate “look-up” of needed parts
- Use skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment.
- Assist in the training of lower-level technicians.
- Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner.
- When required, travel to job sites for repair/maintenance of rental equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
- Must maintain the work area in a clean and professional manner.
- Ability to articulate specific equipment problems in detail to management, co-workers, and/or customers.
- Ability to inventory tools/parts for equipment.
- Ability to fabricate, weld, install additional equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair all electrical, and hydraulic systems on equipment.
Skills
· Extensive Gas and Diesel engine experience
· Ability to thoroughly diagnose and repair hydraulics
· Ability to thoroughly diagnose and repair electrical
- Mechanical Mindset
- construction knowledge and machinery skills are a bonus
- Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers)
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction,
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Very good communication skills
- A problem-solving ability
- Very good physical strength and stamina
- High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
