Description

Job Summary: 

The Bankruptcy Specialist will work with internal departments and available resources to protect bankrupt accounts from unauthorized activity.  On a day-to-day basis you will communicate with counsel for bankrupt accounts, file proofs of claim for recovery, review and qualify accounts for bankruptcy status as well as process and maintain the bankruptcy database.  The Bankruptcy Specialist will also provide the Legal Department with administrative support and assist Legal Department staff with various projects.   

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Perform research and data entry on bankrupt accounts, file proofs of claim, draft reaffirmation agreements, receive and send bankruptcy mail, and otherwise monitor bankrupt accounts. 

  • Work with in-house counsel and asset department to review if recovery of equipment is appropriate on bankrupt accounts. 

  • Communicate with bankrupt parties, attorneys and trustees. 

  • Perform other tasks on an as needed basis.  

  • Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.  

 

 

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies: 

  • 1-3 years of strong administrative experience assistance required.  

  • Prefer specific experience in an in-house environment or in a law firm.  

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Basic Microsoft Office skills. 

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with little supervision. 

  • Must have solid communication skills for extensive oral and written communication with counsel, trustees and customers.   

  • Must be well organized, and willing to take on additional levels of responsibility within the Legal Department.  

  • Previous bankruptcy processing experience preferred. 

 

Additional Requirements:  

  • College degree or equivalent experience. 

  • 40 hours a week (flexible start time)
