Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Accountant at Timepiece Trading LLC in Miami, FL. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day financial tasks, including financial reporting, budget preparation, payroll management, and tax planning. They will also collaborate with the finance team and external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position requires expertise in accounting principles, as well as a keen understanding of the unique aspects of the jewelry and watch business, including inventory management, high-value asset tracking, and sales tax considerations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow).

Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights for management decision-making.

Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

Ensure proper accounting for sales, costs of goods sold, and profit margins in alignment with industry norms.

Inventory Management:

Oversee the accounting for inventory, including raw materials, finished goods, and work-in-progress (WIP).

Ensure proper valuation of inventory, including precious metals, gemstones, watches, and other high-value assets.

Conduct periodic inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

Process invoices, payments, and vendor accounts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.

Monitor and manage customer accounts, collections, and overdue payments.

Ensure proper recording of all transactions in the company’s accounting system.

Tax Compliance:

Prepare and file sales tax returns, VAT, and other relevant tax documents specific to the jewelry and watch industry.

Assist in managing import/export duties and tax compliance for cross-border transactions.

Maintain knowledge of applicable tax laws and regulations affecting the business.

Cash Flow Management:

Monitor cash flow and ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and growth.

Track and report on credit facilities, banking relations, and payment terms with customers and suppliers.

Costing & Pricing:

Work closely with the operations and sales teams to determine accurate product costing and pricing strategies.

Assist in setting up cost structures for custom jewelry and watch designs, considering material costs, labor, and overhead.

Financial Controls & Audits:

Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial records and protect against fraud.

Assist in the preparation and coordination of external audits and internal reviews.

General Ledger Management:

Record, classify, and reconcile all financial transactions in the general ledger.

Ensure proper classification and reporting of expenses, revenues, and liabilities.

Other Duties:

Assist with special projects as directed by senior management.

Stay updated on industry trends, financial regulations, and accounting best practices.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in the jewelry, luxury goods, or retail sector.

Familiarity with the specific challenges of accounting for high-value goods, such as inventory valuation, customs, and precious metal pricing.

Technical Skills:

Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, etc.).

Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).

Knowledge of industry-specific software for inventory and product tracking is a plus.

Knowledge:

Understanding of financial regulations and best practices within the jewelry and luxury goods industry.

Familiarity with import/export regulations and customs duties for international trade of high-value goods.
