Position Summary : Coordinates the activities of Front End employees on assigned shift, while providing the best customer service possible to fulfill our customers needs.
Job Duties :
Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact, by name if possible during transactions
Monitors the flow of front end, keeps track of breaks
Provides extensive customer service, answers questions, responds to complaints, processes money orders (Western Union) and cleaner rentals, sells stamps and bus passes, gives out rain checks if necessary
Processes customer returns, audits register tills, and orders change for the service center, fills change orders of cashiers
Supervises courtesy clerks and general clerks
Responsible for handling large sums of money safely
Performs outs and drops from cashier tills and able to clear register locks, such as voids
General fronting of shelves, basic cleaning, keep workstation clean and organized by dusting, wiping, and sweeping area, hourly checks of grocery floor
Duties of a courtesy and general clerk if needed
Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager
Capabilities :
Stand for long periods of time, very frequent walking back and forth from each register to around the store
Carry up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to seven shopping carts, frequent motions with arms / hands to ring up / bag groceries
Use proper safety procedures
Able to multitask, listen to directions and follow through independently
Able to deal with difficult customers, have good communication and observation skills
Able to work with a team and independently when needed
Job Skills :
Previous experience working with the public
Basic mathematical knowledge and cash handling experience preferred
Working knowledge of produce codes required, while able to differentiate between different produce products
Basic knowledge of working with computers such as spreadsheets, email, word documents.
Environment :
Air condition while in store, subject to outside conditions of heat, rain, wind while helping customers to their cars, and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill
Very fast paced
Other :
Must be at least 21 years of age in accordance with company policy
