Position Summary :
The purpose of the category manager is to optimize the performance of the assigned product category or categories, ensuring positive contribution to the sales and profitability of the convenience retail business, while meeting customer needs and support growing market share. This role will be pivotal in developing a category strategy that aligns with the on-the-go lifestyle and cater to the growing number of health-conscious consumers.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Develop and owns the category plan for the snack product category following standards from the Shell Group, Category Management Association (CMA) and National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS).
- Development and management of the product assortment for the assigned category or categories, ensuring it meets customer demand and aligns with market trends.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best pricing and ensure continuous product availability.
- Overseeing inventory levels, ensuring that stock is available at needed levels to avoid out of stocks. Helps in optimizing sales and reducing costs.
- Set and implement pricing policies for the assigned category or categories, balancing competitiveness, and market share growth with profitability.
- Monitor and analyze sales data, customer reactions, and market trends to make informed decisions that boost category performance.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional plans and strategies to boost category sales.
- Create and implement annual category plans that align with the company's objectives, enhancing the shopping experience and drive sales growth.
- Execute assortment optimization plans at least twice per year, inclusive of exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
- Develop business cases for growth activities linked to the assigned categories. These business cases support investments in capital and justify operational expenses.
