Description

The Director of Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting will support the Assistant Group Controller in overseeing the financial reporting, policies and technical accounting needs of the group, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting in the management of the consolidation and external reporting processes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and consolidation of annual financial statements for the group in accordance with US GAAP/Dutch GAAP – this is primarily US group audited financials and Dutch group audited financials
  • Update, implement and educate financial and business users on the group’s accounting policies with the aim of providing a greater deal of consistency in financial reporting
  • Standardize a group wide balance sheet review process focusing on integrating balance sheet reconciliations into a broader process of balance sheet review
  • Take the lead on preparing and reviewing the monthly GAAP Cash flow
  • Prepares monthly global balance sheet account analysis
  • Prepare quarterly bank debt compliance certificates
  • Manage the US GAAP pension accounting process
  • Assist in the US GAAP and Dutch group audits
  • Manage the annual supplementary reporting package process and assess the option to automate
  • Take ownership for various corporate accounts such as equity and debt
  • Manage the Timex USA 401k annual audit
  • Assist with Ad-hoc projects and analyses as deemed necessary; requested by management
  • Play an active role in the systems strategy of the finance team

Qualifications


Skills:

  • Experience: The candidate for this position should have had at least 10 years of working experience in a leading accounting position within a fast-paced and dynamic position, preferably as an Accounting Manager.
  • The candidate will have significant, successful, and proven experience leading a financial accounting department or key closing processes.
  • Communication Skills: Director of Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting must portray exceptional communication skills. This is especially so for his/her collaborative role where clear and concise conveyance of information to collaborative personnel will determine how effectively collaborative duties are executed.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The Director of Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting has a keen eye for detail, works comfortably in a highly collaborative setting, has an ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines, has a confident and outgoing personality, works comfortably with senior business management, has an ability to operate comfortably in a fast-paced and fast evolving environment, has strong business acumen, is very analytical and procedural, is highly organized, is a self-starter and proactive requiring minimal supervision, and demonstrates an ability to remain calm and composed during times of stress and uncertainty, inspiring the same in his team.
  • Leadership/People Skills: The Director of Corporate Accounting and Financial Reporting must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, having an ability to influence and lead a cross-functional team as well as senior business leadership. He/she must additionally be someone who forms strong relationships with colleagues and who inspires trust and confidence in both his peers, senior, and external partners, enabling the smooth execution of his duties.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance/Accounting
  • CPA and/or MBA a plus
  • 10 years corporate accounting experience
  • Extensive US GAAP knowledge, some IFRS or Dutch GAAP knowledge a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Oracle General Ledger or equivalent ERP systems
  • OBIEE or equivalent Datawarehouse systems
  • Tagetik or equivalent financial reporting systems
