Position Description: The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for ensuring that accounts payable processes are executed efficiently and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Reporting directly to the Controller, this role involves creating and optimizing workflows to maintain accurate and current accounts. The AP will process collection of account balances, and perform various accounting duties such as account maintenance, problem-solving, and auditing.

Essential Functions: Key job responsibilities for which the position is held accountable, other duties may also be assigned:

• Responsible for inputting AP invoices in Microsoft NAV in conformance with US GAAP
• Have the basic knowledge to apply invoices to the correct accounts and learn how to look up data within the system
• Ensure that accounting records/transactions are complete and accurate and the company is in compliance with all governmental, tax and regulatory requirements
• Invoicing – 3-way matching and invoice entry to the correct general ledger accounts.
• Review and report on monthly invoice discrepancies, PPVs and variants.
• AP Statement Reconciliations - Ensure that accounts payable liabilities are matching to vendor statement. Request invoice and POD copies as needed from vendor.
• Work closely with Controller and Department heads on proper approvals within each department as well as within company policy
  
• Provide effective year-end audit support (as assigned).
• Effectively perform other general accounting duties (as assigned).

• Management Qualifications & Tools Required for Success:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting and accounts payable.
  • Extensive attention to detail to quickly identify process gaps/concerns.
  • Excellent understanding of root cause problems solving methodologies.
  • Proficient Excel skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a high volume, multi-temp, food production environment.
  • Superior time management and cross-functional communication skills.

• Physical Requirements:
  • Employee must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. onto waist-high shelves.
  • Employee must have the ability to carry/lift to 10-55 lbs.
  • Frequent bending at waist/knees
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers.
  • Exposure to a multi-temp, QC-regulated, food production environment.
