Job Summary :
We are seeking a full-time Yard Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our lumber yard. The Yard Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a clean, well-organized yard, coordinating deliveries, managing yard staff, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Key duties include inspecting the yard to ensure a fluid work environment, assisting with customer orders and returns, managing inventory, and ensuring all safety protocols are followed. Additional responsibilities include operating trucks and equipment, maintaining and scheduling equipment repairs, and performing routine cycle counts.
Responsibilities :
Work with sales team and lumber desk to efficiently coordinate daily deliveries. Keep customers, sales team, and management apprised of any delays or discrepancies.
Maintain efficiency and productivity of yard staff.
Perform a variety of duties, such as but not limited to; assisting customers loading and unloading lumber and building materials, building loads as needed, operating trucks and equipment, delivering materials to homes and job sites.
Oversee performance of routine inspections and preventive maintenance, including cleaning on assigned equipment and trucks. Report defects or repairs and schedule service for those repairs.
Oversee inventory management by ensuring customers are loaded properly, checking in freight, performing routine cycle counts, etc.
Ensure all special orders are complete and in good condition before leaving the yard. Provides sales assistance to customers on orders and returns.
Operates forklift to load and unload trucks as directed and directs yard staff appropriately as well as assisting truck drivers in loading merchandise and materials, ensuring it is safely and properly handled to prevent damage.
Submit low lists to store manager.
Always continue to make customers a priority while performing other duties.
Qualifications :
Ability to provide motivation and leadership to yard staff in a fair and impartial manner.
Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
Able to walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
Move and handle merchandise up to 80 pounds.
Strong leadership and analytical skills.
Valid drivers license.
CDL is preferred but not required.
High School Diploma or GED.
1-2 years of team supervision preferred.
Experience managing a lumber yard not required but preferred.
