Childcare Food Handler (Part-Time 7 : 30am to 1 : 30pm)
Location : Tiny Steps Learning Center, Paterson, NJ
Tiny Steps Learning Center is seeking a dedicated part-time Childcare Food Handler to join our team. We are committed to providing a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
Reports to : Director or Assistant Director
Position Overview :
The Childcare Food Handler is responsible for organizing and managing the nutritional program of the center. This role involves ensuring the sanitary storage of food, accurate inventory tracking, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
Key responsibilities include :
- Planning and preparing meals and snacks in compliance with state, safety, and nutritional standards.
- Serving meals to classrooms and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.
- Tracking inventory, including food, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items.
- Replenishing and restocking supplies in the staff lounge.
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Food Handler Certificate.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in food planning and preparation for early childhood settings.
- CACFP Experience is a must
- Strong time management, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to pass various background checks.
- Completion of a Tuberculosis test and physical examination.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliable attendance.
- Current ServSafe certificate or willing to obtain.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and plan monthly menus, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines.
- Portion and deliver meals and snacks to classrooms according to schedule.
- Adhere to all local, state, and funding guidelines for food handling and preparation.
- Maintain accurate inventory of kitchen supplies, including food and cleaning materials.
- Implement and maintain a daily cleaning and sanitation checklist.
- Participate in classroom nutrition education activities.
- Attend professional training, food-related conferences, and community events.
- Conduct bi-annual food surveys to gather feedback from parents and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality for children with special dietary needs.
