QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum requirements include all of the following:
Active MD license in good standing with the North Dakota Board of Medicine.
Active Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
Active CPR, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications.
Must meet required continuing education hours to maintain licensure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Directs and coordinates medical care at Tioga Medical Center, which includes the hospital, long-term care, and rural health clinics.
Performs rounds at long-term care on a monthly and as needed basis.
Admits all long-term care residents.
Serves as a clinical director and medical practitioner for the facility.
Provides clinical supervision for medical staff, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, etc.
Provides emergency room coverage as scheduled.
Participates in administrative decision making, establishes policies, procedures and guidelines designed to ensure the provision of adequate, comprehensive care across all specialties.
Develops, revises and implements policies and procedures for patient care, infection prevention and control, quality management and patients' rights.
Ensures compliance with Tioga Medical Center?s policies and procedures for safety, infection prevention and control, hazardous materials and waste, etc.
Communicates with the medical staff regarding policies, standards and specific patient problems.
Serves as a member of the organized medical staff, attends medical staff meetings and ensures adherence to the medical staff bylaws and rules and regulations.
Participates in the development and implementation of educational programs for staff and the community.
Provides recommendations to CEO/Board of Directors regarding capital expenditures for equipment and the facility.
Monitors the health, welfare and safety of staff and advises administration on employee health policies.
Evaluates medical services provided by the facility and makes recommendations as appropriate.
Available for consultation for clinical staff.
Knowledgeable of social, regulatory, political and economic factors that relates to patient care services.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Advises CEO/Board of Directors concerning the adequacy and appropriateness of the facility?s scope of services for patients, its professional and support staff and its medical equipment.
Monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of medical services as an integral part of the overall quality management program.
Provides medical leadership for research and development activities in patient care.Articulates the medical practice?s mission to the community.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the clinic.
Oversees the operation of sleep studies.
May assist with antibiotic stewardship responsibilities.
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and work areas.
Participates in continuing education.
Performs all duties or tasks requested by the CEO.
ADDITIONAL TASKS
Treats all residents and patients with dignity and respect. Promotes and protects all residents? and patients? rights.
Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents, patients, and themselves.
Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Reports any retaliation or discrimination to HR or CEO.
Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator. Protects residents and patients from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility?s emergency plan.
Reports work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
Follows established infection control policies and procedures.
As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency.

Must have thorough knowledge of accepted medical practices, laws, and regulations.
Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk while working on a computer.
Ability to maintain good balance, stand for prolonged periods of time, and have good hand dexterity.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Ability to assist in evacuation of residents and patients during emergency situations.
May be required to travel to attend work-related meetings and educational opportunities.
Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases and/or conditions which include AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis.
May be subject to hostile or emotional residents, patients, family members, visitors or personnel.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Works in well-lit, ventilated area.
Subject to frequent interruptions.
Communicates with medical and nursing staff, and other departments.
Subject to call-back during emergency conditions.
