JOB DESCRIPTION : Responsible for transporting students in non-commercial vehicles (14 passenger school bus).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Operates a motor vehicle in a safe manner according to local, state, and federal laws.
Inspects vehicle before each tour of duty to ensure that it is in proper working order. Advises appropriate maintenance personnel of any issues that are detected
Supervises all students while boarding, riding, or departing the passenger vehicle. Ensures all students are safely placed in custody of teachers, principals, or parents at the beginning or end of each route.
Ensures that all students have departed the vehicle at the end of each run while at the school. Immediately reports any student who is still in the vehicle to the Transportation Department.
Knows how to operate all equipment in the vehicle including the two (2) way radio in the event of an emergency.
Provides written records of students as needed. Provides written records of student discipline referrals using proper student e-discipline system. All referral forms must be co-signed by the driver to verify a violation.
Performs related work as directed by the Director of Transportation or assigned designee.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by a Corporation driver to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Corporation drivers are required to operate vehicles in a safe manner in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
Must successfully complete a physical performance test and an on-board performance evaluation each year.
Must be able to operate passenger restraints, including wheelchair tie downs, for disabled and special needs students.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
While performing the duties of this job, employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must be 24 years of age or older.
Must possess a valid Indiana operator's license with good driving record.
Must have use of hands, arms, feet, legs, eyes, and ears. Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Must be able to obtain Indiana Department of Education yellow card certification
Must be able to obtain a DOE physical examination certificate
EDUCATION :
High School diploma, GED, or related experience and training is preferred, but not required.
