Tippi Toes Dance Instructor
Tippi Toes Dance Company is not a typical brick & mortar dance studio; we bring dance into schools and community centers. This service meets our dancers where they are and gives families more time together because they aren’t driving all over town to get to class. Students love to go to dance class with their school friends and feel comfortable in the familiar space.
A Tippi Toes Dance Instructor leads children's dance classes and must have a love of children, an interest in being a part of early childhood activities, and be highly confident in teaching young students ballet, tap and jazz dance. Responsibilities include traveling to dance locations, preparing for classes, teaching curriculum, and developing a positive rapport with all students as well as school staff. Instructors must have a performance background (dance, musical theatre, cheer, etc).
Position Responsibilities:
- Reviews assigned curriculum and practices lesson plans prior to class (no choreography creation involved in this position)
- Teachers follow all Tippi Toes Dance curriculum, playlists, and lesson plans
- Dance Instructors come to each class in proper dress code, and allow appropriate time for set up
- Teaches each class with enthusiasm and positivity that encourages student participation, interaction, and fun
- Communicates regularly with school staff
- Works with School Directors to regularly add new students to current and future classes, maximizing attendance levels
- Daily/weekly communication with the Franchise Owner/Manager regarding all pertinent class/student information
- Collaborates regularly with fellow Tippi Toes Dance teachers
Position Requirements:
- A background of working with or teaching preschool children, or a desire of doing it
- Tenacity and self-motivation: High energy level, self-starter with a positive attitude
- Ability to communicate appropriately with children as well as school staff
- Upholds company's brand, mission, and values through actions and interactions
- Performance background (dance, theatre, musical theatre, cheer, etc)
- Must have a current driver's license and access to a car
- Must have the ability to travel throughout the Greater Birmingham area (Hoover, Inverness, Chelsea, Pelham, City of Birmingham, Over the Mountain, Mt Brook, etc...)
- Must be willing to go through a background check
Job Type: Part-time
Compensation:
Starting pay of $18 per hour
Expected hours: 5-10 per week

- MOST classes occur M-F between 9 AM and 5:30 PM. We currently have the most hours available in the afternoons, between 1:00 and 5:00 PM.
