What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Treasurer Payroll/Benefits position at Tipton Community School Corp?
POSITION: Corporation Deputy Treasurer/Payroll and Benefits
QUALIFICATIONS: Proficient accounting, bookkeeping, Komputrol and secretarial skills
LENGTH OF TERM: 12 months with vacation time per schedule
REPORTS TO: Corporation Treasurer
PAY: Commensurate with Experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- PAYROLL
- Prepare payroll claims, including lists of all certified and non-certified employees.
- Run the trial journal, and when correct, print checks and deposit advice.
- Prepare all payroll computer data (verifying & posting payroll).
- Calculate and execute all garnishment orders.
- After each pay, prepare depositors and electronically transfer funds for Federal tax and FICA tax withheld.
- Pay State and County taxes to the Indiana Department of Revenue at the end of each month online by Electronic Fund Transfer.
- Prepare and mail payments for all annuities each pay.
- Prepare a spreadsheet with all payroll figures and deductions to be used for balancing purposes monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Prepare each pay reports for all employees' retirement fund
- Monthly, complete the Bureau of Labor report
- Quarterly, prepare unemployment reports
- Quarterly, prepare form 941 to IRS
- As needed, close all certified contracts and figure final pay for non-certified employees.
- End of the calendar year, prepare W-2's for all employees.
- Update the State of Indiana website with new hires.
- Track 30 day trial periods for classified employees.
- Prepare ECA contracts for lay coaches (teachers).
- PERSONNEL/BENEFITS
- Prepare and maintain all data for direct deposits for certified and classified personnel.
- Prepare and reconcile all payments for all insurances monthly.
- Prepare and track FMLA’s.
- Enroll and manage all insurance benefits
- Assist employees with all insurance related questions and concerns.
- Update certified staff personnel cards at the end of each school year.
- REPORTS
- Prepare Form 100R (List of all employees and yearly salaries) to the State Examiner every January for submission by Treasurer or Superintendent.
- Run quarterly, fiscal and annual payroll reports.
- Prepare short-term disability claims and reports.
- Prepare long-term disability reports.
- MISCELLANEOUS
- Responsible for some payroll computer maintenance and back-ups.
- Other duties as designated by the Treasurer and/or Superintendent.
