We have an excellent opportunity for a Terminal Equipment Operator at our Cement Terminal operation located in Tampa, FL. This is an hourly position reporting directly to the Terminal Manager. The function of this position is to successfully perform the day-to-day terminal operations and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Load tanker trucks or rail cars according to job orders and in a manner that minimizes spillage and dust.
- Offload rail cars and ships in a manner to minimize spillage, dust and contamination.
- Diagnose cause of equipment or plant malfunction to determine root cause of problem.
- Repair plant and equipment, including compressors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers, etc. with limited supervision.
- Maintain grounds to include mowing, landscaping, snow and ice removal, etc.
- May make minor electrical repairs.
- Make recommendations to appropriate plant personnel in a timely manner to prevent the recurrence of problems.
- Perform all work in a manner to maximize production amounts and quality.
- Maintain safe and clean work area.
- Operate hand-help radio according to company policy and FCC regulations.
- Communicate verbally with all plant personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of plant operating systems.
- Must have knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Must have good computer skills.
- Physical job requirements include working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat and cold, constant standing and walking, climbing, working from heights and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends when scheduled.
- Must be able to obtain TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
