The Enterprise Architect (EA) is responsible for defining, maintaining, and evolving the target architecture and modernization roadmap of enterprise IT systems. The role ensures alignment with business processes, infrastructure requirements, and modernization strategies. This includes supporting the design of secure, scalable hybrid environments and coordinating with IT stakeholders to ensure architectural decisions meet interoperability and governance standards. The EA will also provide support in business planning and strategy by focusing on business capabilities and maturity. The EA understands services, core missions, and match them with best-in-class technology to define a north-star target state. The EA will help to define prioritization and sequencing of the transformation by proposing a strategic roadmap that leads to the target state.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define current and target-state enterprise architecture and modernization strategy.
- Lead technology planning activities including roadmap development and platform alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design modular and interoperable solutions.
- Evaluate architectural options and assess alignment with operational and modernization goals.
- Support architecture review boards and document governance artifacts.
- Assist with implementation of Zero Trust, virtualization, and service abstraction layers.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- ITIL v4 Foundation
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Cloud FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP)
- TOGAF or equivalent Enterprise Architecture Certification (preferred)
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience developing enterprise IT architectures for federal agencies.
- Specific experience with cloud architecture for multi-tier cloud or hybrid applications, virtualized infrastructure, and enterprise cloud architecture.
- Proven ability to align technical architecture with modernization goals and mission outcomes.
- Experience supporting platform standardization, rationalization, and interoperability.
- Excellent documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with enterprise data and API integration strategies.
- Experience supporting Zero Trust implementations and cloud migration initiatives.
- Understanding of enterprise governance frameworks.
