ASSISTANT FREIGHT BROKER
Department: Administration | Job Status: Full Time | FLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports To: Sr. Freight Broker | Travel: Up to 10%Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM (subject to business needs)
Location: Levelland, TX (The position is an in office position and not remote)
POSITION SUMMARY
Support the freight brokerage team by handling administrative and operational tasks to ensure smooth freight transactions. Assist in managing customer and carrier relationships, problem-solving, and business growth. Must be highly organized, adaptable, and an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist dispatch team with customer and carrier relationships. * Communicate via phone, email, and text to coordinate freight transactions. * Work closely with safety, HR, accounting, recruiting, and operations. * Operate effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in transportation or logistics. * Proficient in McLeod software. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). * Ability to multitask and work under pressure. * Committed to upholding company mission, vision, and values.
DAILY TASKS
- Entering data into freight software. * Compiling reports and managing documentation. * Responding to load requests and dispatching trucks. * Posting loads and trucks. * Handling load number issues, rejected loads, and cargo claims. * Assisting customers and carriers with inquiries.
