Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing, an inventory and logistics in an organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Duties and Responsibilities to include; other related duties may be assigned.
Responsible for logistics resource planning activities to maintain 100% on-time customer deliveries.
Maintain the MRP database to achieve and maintain a high degree of data accuracy, integrity and ownership.
Monitors shipping/receiving performance and investigates discrepancies to resolve/eliminate process deficiencies.
Facilitate Division purchasing and materials initiatives including common part numbers, supplier managed inventory, consolidated purchasing agreements, supplier reduction and supplier quality certifications.
Reviews requisitions.
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Approves invoices for payment.
Expedites delivery of goods to users.
Support internal and external audit requirements relative to the planning, procurement or inventory control functions.
Evaluates current MRP/ERP systems for forecasting material requirements and implements as necessary
Collaborate with other departments (sales, production, marketing, etc.) to forecast demand and adjust supply chain operations accordingly.
Manages tracking of inventory flows throughout the organization
Oversee inventory control processes to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce waste, and ensure timely availability of materials.
Implement strategies to streamline warehouse operations, improve stock organization, and enhance shipping/receiving efficiency.
Perform regular inventory audits and establish systems to prevent stock discrepancies.
Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function.
Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and prepares market analysis reports.
Develops a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
Designs, implements, manages, and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct the shipping/receiving and material handling personnel as well as purchasing. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience - Bachelors Degree in Business or equivalent from four-year College or technical school; or three years to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
