Position Summary
The EVS Tech position is responsible for the procedures of cleaning and disinfecting the TRMC facilities to reduce the risk of infection transmission and in accordance with the departmental policies and procedures. Performs a variety of routine cleaning functions as assigned, to maintain a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition throughout all areas of the hospital. Cooperative work attitude toward and with co-workers, management, patients, visitors, physicians, and ability to effectively communicate with others.
Essential Functions
-Assists in maintaining a healthy, clean, and safe environment for the patient and staff.
-Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique.
-Participates in timely and efficient room turnover.
-Cleans and disinfects equipment.
-Dusts or wet mops floor and vacuums carpets. Dusts and cleans furniture, fixtures, windowsills, vents, and related furnishings.
-Cleans and polishes mirrors, glass partitions, doors, and similar interior glass surfaces.
-Scours, cleans, or polishes, bathtubs, showers, lavatories or other fixtures and walls, counters, or other surfaces.
-Replenishes bathroom supplies of paper towels, soap, and other items from storage.
-Disposes of waste in specific containers as required (i.e. Bio-Waste) and regular trash.
-Operates mechanical equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and other carpet cleaning equipment after appropriate instructions.
-Completes work assignments within an acceptable time frame.
-Uses time and resources to the best possible advantage for successful completion of job responsibilities.
-Strictly adheres to hospital policies regarding hand hygiene, universal precautions, and personal protective equipment.
-Uses proper body mechanics and safety devices to lift and transport safely.
-Understands the protocol for responding to emergency situations and the importance of remaining calm in this situation.
-Participates in staff meetings, in-service programs and educations requirements as assigned.
-Communicates all pertinent information, including problems, concerns, or ideas to the Lead EVS Tech or EVS Manager in a timely and effective manner.
-Promotes a constructive/positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to cooperate with and assist fellow TRMC team members.
-Leads by example and always models the attributes of TRMC Leadership.
-Completes other duties as assigned.
-Maintains a positive work demeanor.
-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience
-Two years in environmental services and/or acute care related service departments preferred.
Education
-High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
