Position Summary
The Occupational Therapist Assistant provides services under the general supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist, including assisting with patient assessment, treating individual patients and patient groups, delivering home program, patient and family instruction, and participating in family and team conferences. The OT Assistant conducts equipment inventories and maintenance and documents services according to hospital and departmental standards.
Essential Functions
-Instructs and prepares the patient for treatment.
-Applies/conducts appropriate modality/intervention.
-Informs the patient of the treatment process.
-Monitors patients during treatments.
-Records patient treatments on charts.
-Provides information to the supervising OTR and physicians.
-Establishes/maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.
-Provides information to supervisor as directed.
-Writes progress notes in accordance with department policy.
-Assists in maintaining logs, charge tickets and reports.
-Designs and instructs patients in home programs.
-Provides written treatment programs for days off and Saturdays.
-Monitors stock levels and orders supplies as needed.
-Assists with the maintenance of equipment.
-Cleans equipment and returns it to storage area if appropriate.
-Supervises and directs technicians in their departmental duties.
-Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
-Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
-Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
