Position Summary
The Patient Access Manager (PAM) develops and implements processes and systems to ensure the integrity and consistency of access throughout assigned inpatient and outpatient areas. The PAM works with the unit/clinic manager of the departments into which Patient Access Representatives (PARs) are deployed to audit and monitor the effectiveness of the PAR position and patient access processes. Is responsible for the daily management of the staff and operations for the following areas: hospital patient access, centralized scheduling, authorizations and contact center.

Position Summary

Essential Functions
- Ensures the integrity of patient access processes through observation, audit, measurement and reports.
- Acts as a coach and liaison to deployed PARs.
- Manages the PAR Resource Pool.
- Oversight of the daily work activities of deployed PARs
- Understands and can communicate the common and different responsibilities of the PARs deployed to assigned departments.
- Assists the leadership team in accomplishing strategic and operational objectives.
- Participates in decisions regarding staffing, budget, coaching and evaluations for PARs.
- Implements training, monitoring and operations initiatives that ensure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/government regulations.
- Provides consistent leadership and communication to maintain a competent and engaged work group through staff rounding, completing performance evaluations and providing timely feedback to employees.
- Provides excellent customer service to internal and external physician offices and hospital department.
- Leads project improvement teams within and across service areas.
- Ensures all PARs have the tools, equipment and training to complete their work.
- Advises unit management on changes in workflow or regulation.
- Ensures adequate PAR availability through management of the resource pool.
- Follow the AIDET guidelines in all interactions with the patient and ensure staff adhere to patient experience expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, TRMC’s Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other applicable policies and procedures.
- Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience
- Computer skills to include proficiency n MS Office and EMR software.
- Functional knowledge of revenue cycle and managed care, scheduling and authorizations.
Education
- National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification as a Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) upon hire or within 12 months of date of hire preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or four years of experience in leadership of patient access preferred.
