Radiation Therapist – Full-Time Opportunity
Location: Rural Cancer Center, 2 Hours NE of Dallas
Our busy, hospital-based radiation department, located within a comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking a full-time, board-certified radiation therapist to join our team. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and a collaborative team of radiation oncologists and nurse navigators.
In 2025, we will be upgrading to cutting-edge technology, including a Siemens Somatom go.top CT scanner and a Varian TrueBeam, further enhancing our ability to deliver exceptional care.

Position Summary
This radiation oncology therapist is responsible for daily treatment on patients with ionizing radiation under the direction of the radiation oncologist. The individual will also ensure high quality patient care, accurate delivery of radiation treatments to each patient, and assist in maintaining a safe radiation oncology clinic per TRMC policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
-Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
-The radiation therapist, under direct supervision, administers radiation therapy treatments to patients.
-Enter data into computer and set controls to operate and adjust equipment and regulate dosage.
-Review prescription, diagnosis, patient chart and identification.
-Position patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription.
-Maintain accuracy in positioning the beam of radiation to correspond with the designated tumor volume and accurately delivering the prescribed dose.
-Enter data into computer and set controls to operate and adjust equipment and regulate dosage.
-Follow principles of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.
-Observe and reassure patients during treatment and report unusual reactions to physician or turn equipment off if unexpected adverse reactions occur.
-Check for side effects such as skin irritation, nausea, and hair loss to assess patients' reaction to treatment.
-Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physicians' advice regarding treatment reactions and post-treatment care.
-Maintain records, reports and files as required, including such information as radiation dosages, equipment settings, patients' reactions, and participates in appropriate quality assurance practices.
-Conduct treatment sessions independently or in a team environment, in accordance with the long-term treatment plan and under the general direction of the patient's physician.
-Check radiation therapy equipment to ensure proper operation.
-Participates in clinical instruction of newly hired therapists.
-Accurately cuts blocks, when applicable.
-Accurately makes custom molds.
-Calculate actual treatment dosages delivered during each session.
-Assists in maintaining patient appointment schedule and submitting correct billing information.
-Maintains clean, safe, and organized work environment
-OSHA Blood borne pathogens Class I.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
-Complete annual education requirements.
-Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
-Report to work on time and as scheduled.
-Wear identification while on duty.
-Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.
-Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
-Comply with all organizational policies and standards.
Work Experience
-One to three years’ experience practicing as a RTT.
Education
-Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist required.
-ARRT certification required.
-Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
