Position Summary

The ICU RN should know and conform to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Boards rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State or local laws, rules or regulations, provide, without discrimination, nursing services regardless of age, disability, economic status, gender, national origin, race, religion, or health problems of the patients service. The RN has principle responsibility for the total nursing care, assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation of each assigned patient. The RN plans, provides, evaluates, and documents nursing care, discharge planning and teaching. The RN assures the plan is carried out and provided in a safe environment, through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel, and educates patients, family or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.

Education

Degree Level Required : Not specified

  • Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas.
  • BLS and the NIHSS within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS and TNCC within one year of hire.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the total nursing care, assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation of each assigned patient.
  • Plans, provides, evaluates, and documents nursing care, discharge planning and teaching.
  • Assures the plan is carried out and provided in a safe environment, through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel.
  • Educates patients, family or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.
  • Functions as charge nurse when required.
  • Treats co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • Displays teamwork in accomplishing duties.
  • Exhibits good listening skills.
  • Shares information appropriately.
  • Punctual for work and meetings.
  • Schedules time off in advance.
  • Provides and welcomes constructive feedback.
