Position Summary
The ICU RN should know and conform to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Boards’ rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State or local laws, rules or regulations, provide, without discrimination, nursing services regardless of age, disability, economic status, gender, national origin, race, religion, or health problems of the patient’s service. The RN has a principal responsibility for the total nursing care, assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation of each assigned patient. The RN plans, provides, evaluates, and documents nursing care, discharge planning and teaching. The RN assures the plan is carried out and provided in a safe environment, through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel, and educates patients, family or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.
Essential Functions
-Knows/conforms to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Board's rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State or local laws, rules or regulations.
-Provide, without discrimination, nursing services regardless of age, disability, economic status, gender, national origin, and race, religion, or health problems of the patient’s service.
-Responsible for the total nursing care, assessment, planning implementation, and evaluation of each assigned patient.
-Plans, provides, evaluates, and documents nursing care, discharge planning and teaching.
-Assures the plan is carried out and provided in a safe environment, through performance and supervision of subordinate personnel.
-Educates patients, family or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.
-Functions as charge nurse when required.
-Treats co-workers with dignity and respect.
-Displays teamwork in accomplishing duties.

-Schedules time off in advance.
-Provides and welcomes constructive feedback.

-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience
-One year of acute care experience preferred.
Education
-Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas required.
-BLS (Basic Life Support) required upon hire date.
-ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within 90 days of hire date.
-TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) within one year of hire date preferred.
