Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Tiverton is seeking a proactive and resourceful Associate Counsel who will play a pivotal role in providing legal and administrative services within the company’s growing Legal Department. The Associate Counsel would be under the direct supervision of both Tiverton’s General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. This is a full-time in person position at our headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. The successful Associate Counsel will be comfortable overseeing multiple legal matters, self-motivated, and energized by working with a group of thoughtful, smart, and skilled colleagues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Legal review and drafting of form contracts, compliance, and regulatory filings
- Facilitate communication between legal department and other company functions
- Oversee corporate governance including filing and organization of legal documents and records
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations
- Draft documents for commercial lending, financial transactions, and other strategic initiatives
- Document review and proofing of drafts and filings
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Juris Doctorate Degree from a nationally accredited university
- Bar admission in North Carolina is preferred, but not required
- Preference will be given to candidates with firm experience in debt transactions and/or finance
- Demonstrated excellence in legal drafting and communication
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in using office productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in completing assigned tasks
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
- Research skills to gather background information and relevant court records for cases
- Active listening skills to perform transcriptions and take accurate notes
- Written communication skills to edit and proofread documents
