Job Summary:
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Merchandise and Accuracy Control Teams within the MMX Distribution Center. Represents the interest of Merchandise / Planning & Allocation by inspecting all merchandise ensuring MMX meets TJX&rsquos value requirements for Brand, Fashion, Quality, and Price (BFQP). Acts as strategic business partners with DC Operations in the timely flow of goods to stores as well as supporting all the MMX Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for turn time goals, quality, safety, and CPU.
Responsible for B Shift: Friday &ndash Sunday 5:00AM &ndash 5:30PM
Major Area of Responsibility:
Associate Engagement and Talent Development:
- Builds effective teams through selection, training, and ongoing development succession planning, talent spotting, hiring, creation of Individual Development Plans, and in-depth bi-yearly performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Encourages and supports staff to think independently and problem solve to reach effective business decisions.
- Continually looks for opportunities to develop staff. Makes training and development a priority.
Merchandise Control Responsibility:
- Acts as the liaison between Home Office Planning & Allocation and the Operations Teams within the Distribution Network for protecting the Company&rsquos assets in regards to quality and legal ramifications.
- Teaches the Off-Price Business Model strategies across multiple levels in the DCs and Home Office training Supervisors, Managers, and other Leaders.
- Partners and influences decision making across various businesses e.g. Financial Control, Shortage Control, Accounts Payable, TJX legal, Planning & Allocation, Stores, Loss Prevention, Home Office Distribution Services as well as all levels within the DCs up to and including the Senior Leadership Team.
- Drives Network departmental metrics and the DC&rsquos Quality KPIs analyzes, recommends, and supports improvements to be made to drive results.
- Thinks globally and understands the impact of their decisions within the Network and across banners.
- Recognizes opportunities to take calculated risks and reacts appropriately to achieve optimal results that are in the best interest of the business.
- Manages the Merchandise Controllers ensuring the following:
- Merchandise received meets PO specifications for: all TJX and US Federal Legal Compliance, seasonally appropriate for store zones serviced, &ldquocompare at&rdquo retails in line, BFQP, mix of color, sizes, styles, quantities, Vendor labeling, etc.
- Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of merchandise and technical terms, fabrications and MMX standards as it relates to quality.
- Ensures that damages/problem merchandise and RTVs are identified and processed according to established Best Practices. Ensures proper handling and timely execution of retail changes challenges reticketing and break packs to support the building&rsquos CPU.
- Ensures MCs educate in the processing areas teaching the GWAs problem solving in order to mitigate Inventory Shrink and to educate on the off-price business model.
- Ensures MCs identify and communicate the proper receiving, handling, and routing of DCs and Retailer&rsquos merchandise.
- Ensure various DC specific reports are available to the Operations Team for decision making such as P-list, specialty plans, Ad tracking, priority trailers, etc.
Accuracy Control (AC) Department Responsibility:
- Quality KPI metrics are accurately captured and reported for network reporting.
- Teaches and drives the Operational Leaders on the importance of quality and accuracy and how this impacts Inventory Shrink and Damages.
- Analyzes reporting and makes recommendations on quality improvements throughout functional processing areas e.g. receiving, layup, ticketing, selection, packing, holdings, and shipping.
- Performs audits on AC Associates ensuring consistency on reporting of GWA accuracy on processes.
Decision Making:
- Participate in the decision making process of hiring and terminating direct reports.
- Takes calculated risks on business decisions on their own as well as escalating some to Home Office P&A. e.g when to damage out product, combining lines, etc.
- Makes decisions on when to create sub headers as well as to modify a header after the financial transaction has gone through to the stock ledger.
Requirements:
- Bachelor&rsquos Degree in Business, Retailing, etc. or equivalent job experience
- 3-5 years of leadership or merchandising experience
