Electrical Assembler
We are seeking a skilled electrical assembler to assemble, wire, and test electrical control panels for industrial machinery. While not all panels will involve PLCs, candidates should have some experience with PLC wiring and integration.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assemble and wire industrial control panels, ensuring all components are properly installed and connected.
- Work with relays, circuit breakers, motor starters, HMIs, VFDs, and other automation components.
- Interpret electrical drawings, but also be capable of wiring and running electronics without detailed schematics.
- Provide input on wire routing, layout design, and component selection to improve efficiency and ease of maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and debug electrical systems using multimeters, continuity testers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Wire and integrate PLCs, including basic I/O connections where applicable.
- Modify enclosures as needed (drilling, tapping, cutting, etc.) to ensure proper component fit.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to refine panel layouts and optimize system performance.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 4 years in panel building, electrical assembly, or industrial automation.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in Electrical Technology, Automation, or related field is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, but also work without them when necessary.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for industrial control panels and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with PLC hardware (Automation Direct, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.) is preferred.
- Knowledge of motor controls, power distribution, and automation components.
- Understanding of proper wire sizing, routing, and best practices for panel layout.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving in electrical design and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of PLC wiring and troubleshooting (programming experience is a plus but not required).
- Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with relevant tooling to modify mounts when necessary.
- Familiarity with UL508A standards and electrical panel best practices (preferred, but not required).
- Ability to use AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools for reviewing panel layouts (preferred, but not required).
